Entering into the rest of God!

Word For Today January 21, 2010: Entering into the rest of God!

This is the day the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it. We must press in and press upward in our pursuit of the Lord. He is everything and we must grow more and more in love with Him each day.

The enemy has thrown so much at us all to keep us from focusing our eyes fully on the Lord. It is surely a battle, beloved of the Lord. I don’t know how we make it accept by the grace of God each day.

It is true, many are the afflictions of the righteous, but God delivers us from them all. The enemy is amplifying his lying voice to discourage, disrupt our seeking the Lord.

He is increasing the attacks against all of us who are falling in love more and more with our Lord Jesus than ever before, but we will overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony.

Yet, Jesus said, Greater is He that is in us, then he who in the world. In the midst of those amplified voices is a greater voice that says, “come and into my rest.”

The rest of absolute trust in God, His love, His power, His ability as we cast all our cares upon him.

There is a true sabbath day rest for the true people of God. Every force in hell wants to try to take us out of the rest of faith, because outside of the rest we try to use our own hands, strength, and ability to try to fix everything and we can’t.

It is an absolute work of death to trust God completely with everything. Our natural flesh wants to “fix everything” and keep us from all type of “suffering” yet it can’t.

Trying to fix things in the flesh can actually delay God answers from manifesting for us when we need them, and keep us stuck in the quagmire longer.

Empty, empty, empty, we must become so we can become full, full, full in and of the rest of God. The God Who SEES! El-Rah.

Job really did some it up when all the worse things happened to him and they accused him of all types of sin. He could not understand what God was doing, and many times neither do we.

Job said, “Thou you slay me, yet I will trust you! I guess that is the bottom line isn’t it. God is or he is not? God does what he says he will do or not? What will we believe in spite of all we see today?

For me, today I agree with Job, though you slay me Lord, yet will I trust you. There is no other place to put our faith and trust and then rest but God Himself.

Today we must find the peace of God in the midst of the storm, knowing Jesus is walking on the water toward us to teach us how to walk on the water with him.

There is a simplicity of rest when it is rooted in God’s pure holy love for us. Is it not true, if God be for us, who can be against us?

I pray today for myself and all those who may be seemingly surrounded on every side. The truth is, that God is the one who is surrounding us and in us and he is lifting our heads right now above our enemies.

I have no idea how God will work things out today and none of us do. We just know He will and in that “He will” we can enter the rest of God and cease from our own efforts and struggles.

It is in the rest of God, God can speak to us, encourage us, enable us, empower us, and give us the directions that we need for this moment we are in.

It is in the rest of God, that He can speak to our weary souls and body, peace be still and with just those words calm the storms that have raged against us.

How important is it to enter the rest of God. VITALLY!

Hebrews chapter 3 speaks about entering into God’s rest this way.

12 Take care, brothers and sisters, that there not be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving [d]heart [which refuses to trust and rely on the Lord, a heart] that turns away from the living God.

13 But continually encourage one another every day, as long as it is called “Today” [and there is an opportunity], so that none of you will be hardened [into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [its cleverness, delusive glamour, and sophistication].

These two verses are admonition for us to see the cause and root of the work of the enemy and his attempt to get us out of faith into fear. Fear that produce an “unbelieving heart, a heart that refuse to cling to trust and rely upon the Lord.”

So important is it for us to remain in faith and rest of God that He tells us to encourage one another daily so none of us will be hardened by sin through fear and unbelief.

For unbelief shuts us out of the promised land and promises of God. We must encourage each other while it is still TODAY!

Are there people you know today that may need that encouragement not to move, not to give up and trust in the Lord?

Are we praying for them? Are you seeking God for them to give them a word from the Lord? Are you willing to become a vessel God may use to answer their prayers?

Paul writes:

14 For we [believers] have become partakers of Christ [sharing in all that the Messiah has for us], if only we hold firm our newborn confidence [which originally led us to Him] until the end, 15 while it is said,

“Today [while there is still opportunity] if you hear His voice, Do not harden your heart, as when they provoked Me [in the rebellion in the desert at Meribah].”

16 For who were they who heard and yet provoked Him [with rebellious acts]? Was it not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?

17 And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose dead bodies were scattered in the desert?

18 And to whom did He swear [an oath] that they would not enter His rest, but to those who disobeyed [those who would not listen to His word]?

19 So we see that they were not able to enter [into His rest—the promised land] because of unbelief and an unwillingness to trust in God.

Verse 19 show us the destructive work of the enemy he worked in the children of Israel.

The people who saw 10 plagues come upon Egypt and God set them free gave up their faith and trust in God.

The people who saw God that became a pillar of fire to protect them while they crossed the Red Sea that God blew open for them forgot his faithfulness. The people who ate manna from heaven and drank water out of a rock died in the wilderness by an evil heart of unbelief.

The same people whose clothes and shoes didn’t wear out for 40 years, these same people gave up on God and never entered his rest, their evil unbelieving heart kept them out to die in the desert?

That is not our destiny Beloved. It is not our destiny to be like them to die now in this place we are in either. The God that brought us out is the God that will bring us into our land of promise. Let us encourage each other in the Lord and enter the rest of God.

How serious is it for us to enter the rest of God? Very serious! For the rest of God is the third day work of Jesus to complete us as full grown sons and daughters of God and we must trust him.

It the 7th day Sabbath rest of God that has brought us out of the church age into the kingdom age to enter the transformational marriage supper of the Lamb.

It is the 7th day completed work of God from Adam to now where God’s mature sons and daughters will now manifest on the earth to preach the Kingdom of God in full power, dominion and authority on the earth.

Hebrews 4 speaks to us:

Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still remains and is freely offered today, let us fear, in case any one of you may seem to come short of reaching it or think he has come too late.

2 For indeed we have had the good news [of salvation] preached to us, just as the Israelites also [when the good news of the promised land came to them]; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because it was not united with faith [in God] by those who heard.

3 For we who believe [that is, we who personally trust and confidently rely on God] enter that rest [so we have His inner peace now because we are confident in our salvation, and assured of His power], just as He has said,

“As I swore [an oath] in My wrath, They shall not enter My rest,” [this He said] although His works were [a]completed from the foundation of the world [waiting for all who would believe].

4 For somewhere [in Scripture] He has said this about the seventh day: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; 5 and again in this, “They shall not enter My rest.”

6 Therefore, since the promise remains for some to enter His rest, and those who formerly had the good news preached to them failed to [grasp it and did not] enter because of [their unbelief evidenced by] disobedience,

7 He again sets a definite day, [a new] “Today,” [providing another opportunity to enter that rest by] saying through David after so long a time, just as has been said before [in the words already quoted],

“Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.”

8 [This mention of a rest was not a reference to their entering into Canaan.] For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not speak about another day [of opportunity] after that.

9 So there remains a [full and complete] Sabbath rest for the people of God.

10 For the one who has once entered His rest has also rested from [the weariness and pain of] his [human] labors, just as God rested from [those labors uniquely] His own.

11 Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience [as those who died in the wilderness].

These scriptures speak loudly to our present situations where it seems like we are surrounded on every side from the enemy, but in reality we are surrounded by God who is love. The God is for us so who can be against us.

Prayer for us today:

I pray a release of the power of the Holy Spirit for all readying this post that by the grace and strength of God in our weakness, God would lift us up into the full Sabbath rest we need today.

May we enter with the Lord into His rest, the rest of His faith, and may we cease from the pain of our human efforts or labor and just simply trust you Lord, right here and right now. In spite of what we see or feel today, ABBA, we choose to rest in you as we cast all our cares upon you.

We will by faith in you make every effort to enter that rest of you ABBA, and today. We declare and decree we will know it and experience it for ourselves by the Spirit of God in us. It is not by might, nor by power, but by your Spirit.

Father we declare today, “For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged [b]sword, penetrating as far as the division of the [c]soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Let your Word not return to you void in us today, but let it prosper in us where you sent it and accomplish what you please to bring us into the complete rest of faith and trust in you. You are our ABBA!

Father we agree with your words for each and everyone of us today that Inasmuch then as we [believers] have a great High Priest who has [already ascended and] passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, WE WILL hold fast our confession [of faith and cling tenaciously to our absolute trust in you as Savior].

Lord, we declare that we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations we are now facing today. You love us and you care for us Lord.

Because you have been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin. Jesus you know exactly where we are today and you have come to give us exactly what we need today in our time of need.

Today Lord in the midst of our fiery furnaces, storms, hurricanes we are facing WE WILL (with great privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear.

We believe right now we have come to you Lord that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].

Lord, this is that moment and we open our heart to receive the mercy for our failures and your AMAZING GRACE TO HELP US RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW IN OUR TIME OF NEED.
