My true identity: I have been crucified with christ
Word for today April 3, 2021: Resurrection Weekend Word: My true identity: I have been crucified with Christ!
There are going to be wonderful messages tomorrow on the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus and how he died for our sins to save us all, and thank God for that.
I feel impressed to write a word from the Lord for us that are already saved and what does the death and resurrection of Jesus mean to us today.
Over the past decades, there has been much teaching by many ministers about what they believe our Identity in Christ is and that is wonderful.
They point of us to what our lives should look like as Christians, what we should do, how we should live as the Bible tells us.
Yet the most fundamental principle of where our "true identity" in Christ begins is often left out. It is like we are teaching people to live a life like Jesus without the root principle of identification with that life.
What is that root principle? It begins with a very somber word: DEATH!
Yes, beloved DEATH TO OUR OLD LIFE AS WE HAVE KNOWN IT TO BE.
True maturity in the Lord is when you don't "try to copy" Jesus life. You live in true power of his resurrected life in you.
The Apostle Paul writes: Phil 4:10-11 I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to Him in His death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.…
Here is where our true identity in Christ begins: DEATH AND THEN RESURRECTION.
THIS IS WHAT WE ARE CELEBRATING THIS RESURRECTION SUNDAY. NOT ONLY DID JESUS DIE FOR SINS, HE WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD SO WE COULD BE RAISED FROM SPIRITUAL DEATH FIRST, THEN NATURAL DEATH AS WELL.
The Apostle Paul, the "least of the Apostles" said, I want to know Christ in the power of His resurrection.
Do we? Do all of us who call ourselves by HIs name want to know the power of His resurrection reality in our lives today in America?
I believe many "want to know him in that power." I believe many want to operate in "that power." But few, want to walk on the pathway for Jesus's true resurrection life to be fully lived in them.
Yet, Today there is a remnant of God who are seeking that true walk of the "Highway of Holiness" and truly desire to be a witness of Jesus on this earth.
Those are the ones that will desire to walk in "the way, the truth, and the life of Jesus as full mature sons and daughters of God.
Paul writes I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to Him in His death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.…
Paul did not just pray to know the power of Jesus resurrection but also the way into it. THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERINGS.
Beloved, many are called, but few are chosen. Few will pay the price of "the fellowship of his suffering" to walk in that resurrection power.
For the sufferings God allows in our life has a purpose and that purpose is "FORM OUR MATURE IDENTITY IN CHRIST." THAT IDENTY IS FORMED THROUGH THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERINGS.
This is not the suffering for our sins and failures, but the suffering of persecution, rejection, being hurt, despised, beaten for his name sake, left ship wrecked as Paul was and more.
The very first words given to Paul at his conversions was the Lord was going to show him the "the things he must suffer" for his name sake.
When Paul wrote verses 10-11, He was speaking of his "true identity in Christ. He wanted to know the power of his resurrection and he knew the way to get it.
He writes.. and the fellowship of his sufferings being made conformed into HIS DEATH, THAT SOMEHOW TO OBTAIN THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD.
Paul was looking for the putting away of the old life completely, that which is corruptible to put on the incorruptible which was a life fully lived in the love of Jesus who gave Himself up for him.
I believe Paul hungered to see and be with Jesus as He met in on that Damascus road. He stood in the glory of Jesus and it changed him forever.
Paul desired that "out resurrection" which was a life completed and formed into his image that coms from being crucified with him and to all that He used to be, to become everything that God created him to be in Christ as a new creation.
I wonder this Resurrection week, if we have considered the true power and meaning of the death and resurrection of Jesus beyond forgiving our sins?
I wonder if we realize that to become true followers of Jesus, true disciples of the Lord, mature sons and daughters of God that the road leads through death.
Beloved, it means the death of our life as it used to be, to be resurrected into our new life that is to be fully identified in Christ life alone. (The life I now live.)
True Christianity is not trying to fix our weak spots so we can be religious and outwardly holy before men through a means of religious works and activities.
True Christianity is an Identity or identification that Jesus is in us and we are in Him. His life is our life and our life is his life.
Paul says it this way, "I have been crucified with Christ, NEVERTHELESS I LIVE, BUT NOT I, BUT CHRIST LIVES IN ME.
Beloved. as we ponder this weekend of the glorious death and resurrection of Jesus, I pray we will go beyond just the fact that he died for our sins to save us.
Yes, beloved, He died for our sins and arose again to forgive us but more to bring us back to our true identity as children of God.
1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!"
This quality of love begins with our death and our resurrection being in Christ Jesus in true kingdom reality.
Paul writes. " and the life I now life, I live by faith in the Son of God who loves me and gave Himself for me.
Does that sound like a life being fixed up religiously to keep living life as he did before. NO, NO, NO. It was a completely new life.
A life that came through death, the death of the cross being identified fully with Christ life who gave himself up for us now living fully in us, until we are not our own. We have been purchased with a price.
The resurrection life of Jesus in full power and glory comes through death, the death of who we used to be with God, to the new life of who we are now to be in God.
Paul prayed to know "the out resurrection from our old life to live an entirely new one in christ," and so should we..
In America and in many nations, Christianity is a religion to most believers like most religions with rules to follow, activities to do, etc.
But in the days of the Apostle, Christianity was not a slogan nor was it a religion. It was a BRAND NEW LIFE. A LIFE THAT CAME FROM DEATH.
IT WAS A LIFE THAT CAME THROUGH THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE REALITY THAT THEY HAD BEEN CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST, THOUGH THEY WEREN'T NATURALLY DEAD, THEIR OLD LIFE WAS DEAD AS THEY KNEW IT TO BE.
THEY ANSWERED JESUS CALL.. COME AND FOLLOW ME.. AND I WILL MAKE YOU TO BECOME......
Their lives were crucified with Christ. No longer did they choose what they would do with their life, where they would go, what they would have, they lived only to do the Father's will as Jesus did.
Jesus said these words, Matthew 12: 48-50: "48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Jesus said, For whoever does the will of my father are my family members. Paul writes, "I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, but not I, but Christ lives in me.... and now the life I life.. I live by faith in the Son of God who loves me and gave himself for me," AS A MEMBER OF JESUS FAMILY! DO WE?
Jesus, said, "For whosoever does the will of my Father in heaven is MY BROTHER AND SISTER AND MOTHER.
Who are His family members? HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER! THESE ARE THE MEMBERS OF HIS FAMILY, HIS BODY.
The Apostle Paul longs to know what, THE POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION, AND FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERING BEING MADE CONFORMED INTO HIS DEATH?
BELOVED OF THE LORD, IS THAT OUR PRAYER THIS RESURRECTION WEEKEND AND SUNDAY? IF NOT, WHY NOT? THAT IS THE QUESTION AND PURPOSE OF THIS POST!
This is the glory and power of what Resurrection Sunday can bring to us who are saved. It can bring us into our full destiny and bring forth our true identity in Christ.
Jesus Christ in me, the hope of glory and I in him. His life is now my life. I have been crucified into and with his death, my old life no longer exist.
I have been risen up as a new person, and I have a new life to live in Son of God who loves me and gave Himself for me. .
I have a new life to live in the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his suffering, being conformed (Identified) with his death.
Is that our testimony this Resurrection week? Is that our true testimony? Is that the true fruit of maturity that is coming forth from our life as believers in this nation.
Can the world smell the smell of death upon our life but see the power of His resurrection life in us? Can they see we truly belong to the Messiah, Yeshua?
Is the below scripture a plaque on our walls or the law of the Spirit of life written on our heart.
Let us be sober minded this Resurrection Sunday. Everything in this nation and in the world is changing. We are living in the end times and the Book of Revelation is being unfolded this very minute.
We can no longer stay babes in Christ, or religious or lukewarm Christians.
Time is too short. If we don't repent and change now we will not be prepared and ready as God's witnesses of the kingdom of God for these end times.
This is the time we must in living reality live our true identity, His life living in Me. Jesus Christ in us, the Hope of Glory. Our lives must now become the reflections of His life on this earth.
That can happen quickly if we repent of our lukewarm hearts, our lives living in mixture or religiously and turn our hearts back fully to Jesus our first love.
It will happen when we burn in love with him and live in "his in love with us" pure holy love. He will burn everything within our old life out of us.
Our testimony of true maturity will be: We have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless we live, but not us, but Christ lives in us.. and the now the life we live... is by faith.. in the Son of God who loves us and gave himself up for us.
May the power of the Holy Spirit that raised up Jesus from the dead be released in us today quicken our mortal bodies into the fullness of Christ life lived in us.
It is through the "fellowship of His sufferings" that we receive the power of His resurrection as we are being conformed into his death. Without that we can never walk or fully live in the power of His resurrection life as long as we remain in mixture.
Now is the time to truly know what our identity is in Christ and what that identification is to be in our life... I have been crucified with Christ. nevertheless I live, but not I, but Christ lives in me.
Who are my mothers? Who are my Brothers? Who is my true family?
Matthew 12: 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Happy Resurrection Day and week, Beloved of the Lord.
