Word for Today: March 11, 2020 I will protect you!
Today we must keep our eyes upon Jesus alone. He is everything we need. He is our God, Savior, Lord, King, Provider, Protector, Safety, Rock to stand upon in this time.
Jesus warned us in the last days “perilous times would come, “hard to deal with and hard to bear.” That is why it is critical that we don’t have a lukewarm or cold relationship with God.
This is the hour we must be burning “red hot” in love with Jesus. We must now put Psalm 91 in the forefront of our prayers and lives not as a religious word to pray as a ritual. Psalm 91 must become our life style if it is not.
This psalm speaks of a deep abiding relationship with Jesus, I want to point out some important points of this psalm not only for prayer but the life of love and protection the Lord’s provides to “he that dwells in the secret place.”
Security of the One Who Trusts in the Lord.
91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand].
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust [with great confidence, and on whom I rely]!”
3 For He will save you from the trap of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you and completely protect you with His pinions, And under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and a wall.
5 You will not be afraid of the terror of night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Nor of the destruction (sudden death) that lays waste at noon.
7 A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But danger will not come near you.
8 You will only [be a spectator as you] look on with your eyes And witness the [divine] repayment of the wicked [as you watch safely from the shelter of the Most High].
9 Because you have made the Lord, [who is] my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent.
11 For He will command His angels in regard to you, To protect and defend and guard you in all your ways [of obedience and service].
12 They will lift you up in their hands, So that you do not [even] strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and cobra; The young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.
14 “Because he set his love on Me, therefore I will save him; I will set him [securely] on high, because he knows My name [he confidently trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never abandon him, no, never].
15 “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.
16 “With a long life I will satisfy him, And I will let him see My salvation.”
What does God promises us if we live in the secret place? What is the secret place? What does that mean?
The secret place is the most intimate relationship with the Lord, a personal one as a bride would be with her bridegroom. It is the relationship that David had with the Lord.
It is a relationship that he speaks of in Psalm 27:4 One thing I desires of the Lord, that will I seek after, that I may dwell in his presence, his house all the days of my life and gaze upon his beauty and his sweet attractiveness and to inquire in his temple.
The great King David's’ life was reduced to seeking just one thing.. GOD! That is what it means to dwell in the secret place of the Most High God. What are the benefits of an real and living abiding relationship with Jesus.
Verse 1. He will keep you safe and secure and at rest.
Verse 3: He will keep you safe from the trap of the enemies: AND FROM EVERY DEADLY PESTILENCE: (definition of pestilence: a fatal epidemic disease especially plagues.)
Verse 4: He will cover you with his own arms and wings. HIS FAITHFULNESS WILL BE YOUR SHIELD AND A WALL OF PROTECTION
Verse 5-6 YOU WILL NOT BE AFRAID. (Why? Because God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind) of any terror at night or any arrow the enemy tries put against you.
NOR THE PESTILENCE (FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASE) that stalks in darkness nor destruction that come at noon.
Verse 7 is a promise or divine supernatural protection: A 1000 MAY FALL AT YOUR SIDE, 10,000 AT YOUR RIGHT HAND... BUT THE DANGER.... WILL NOT.... WILLL NOT.. COME NEAR YOU.
Verse 8: You will only be a spectator as you look with your eyes and witness the repayment of the wicked why?
Here is the key: because YOU WILL BE WATCHING SAFELY FROM THE SECRET PLACE, SHELTER OF THE MOST HIGH GOD!
Beloved, this is a covenant promise for those who abide in the vine Jesus Christ and are dwelling in Him and Him in them in HIs abiding love and protection.
How do I know this? Verse 9
BECAUSE YOU... YES YOU.. HAVE MADE THE LORD... DO YOU SEE IT? IT IS A DIVINE CHOICE.. YOU HAD MADE THE LORD WHO IS YOUR REFUGE, EVEN THE MOST HIGH... YOUR DWELLING PLACE... THIS IS THE KEY TO WALK IN THE HOUR WE ARE NOW LIVING IN.
Verse 10: NO EVIL.. IT DOES NOT SAY SOME EVIL.. IT SAYS NO EVIL WILL BEFALL YOU AND NO PLAGUE.. NO PLAGUE WILL COME NEAR YOUR HOUSE OR TENT... DID YOU READ THAT IT SHALL NOT COME NEAR YOU.
How is God going to protect us? BY LIVING...in the abiding secret place of intimacy with Him. Then God’s promise in verse 11 will be our reality! HE WILL COMMAND.... THAT IS NOT AN OPTION..
HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS REGARDING YOU... THEY WILL BE ASSIGNED TO PROTECT.. PROTECT... DEFEND..DEFEND... AND GUARD YOU.. IN ALL... ALL.. ALL... YOUR WAYS NOT SOME OF THEM!
In Verse 12 look at what the angels will do: They will lift you up in their hands so you don’t strike the stone the enemy has put in your path. That means, as that stone is about to stop you or hurt you, God’s angel will lift you above them and walk over them as they will be UNDER YOUR FEET.
Why will God do this for those who dwell in the Secret Place of intimacy with him? Verse 14 tells us why!
Verse 14: Because YOU SET YOUR LOVE UPON ME... That is what David did. He set his love and intimate affection upon the Lord Himself. This is not a relationship of being cold or lukewarm with the Lord, but a relationship of deep intimacy.
When we do set our love upon the Lord like this: God promises: I WILL SAVE HIM. I WILL SET HIM SECURELY ON HIGH. Why? BECUSE YOU KNOW HIS NAME (YOU CONFIDENTLY TRUSTS AND RELIES ON ME...
Beloved this is a key, those who truly know the Lord remain safe and secure in His love no matter what comes. This is what God has been trying to teach us through all the fiery trials we have all faced.
Proverbs 3: 4-6 says, “We are to trust the Lord with all our heart and lean not upon our own understanding, but in all our ways, we acknowledge Him, and He will... He will direct our path.
The acknowledging the Lord is a life lived in the Secret Place of the Most High God in deep intimate relationship with Him. In this place he has our heart and we have his.
He shares his thought and plans with us so we know what to do, where to go or not do or where not to go, because He is leading us by His own eyes. He protect us there, preserves us there and gives us power over the enemy as Psalm 91 promises.
In verse 14 God says, “because He knows my name, and who I am, I WILL NEVER ABADON HIM, NO NEVER... WOW, WHAT A PROMISE.
In verse 15 He even makes it more plain: HE WILL CALL UPON ME.. IN TIMES JUST LIKE NOW.. AND I WILL... I WILL... I WILL ANSWER HIM...!
Yet He will even do more: I WILL BE WITH HIM IN TROUBLE. “In the last days there will be perilous trouble...) God says, I WILL BE WITH YOU IN TROUBLE. I WILL RESCUE YOU AND HONOR YOU.. WHERE? IN THE MIDST OF THE TROUBLE THAT IS NOW UPON THE EARTH!!! PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!
Verse 16 should comfort your heart in the midst of what all the news networks are saying. This is the covenant promise of God for those who will dwell in the secret place as a living reality. Not a religious exercise of quotations a scripture that the lukewarm and cold try to recite, that will not work.
This promise is for those on fire and “in love” with the Lord and have given him the “totality of their being” to be the Lord and King over their entire life.
What is that promise: WITH LONG LIFE.. NOT SHORT LIFE.. WILL I SATISFY HIM. AND... AND. I WILL LET HIM SEE MY SALVATION..
Beloved, that does not mean just the forgiveness of sins, but the whole of our salvation, our full inheritance as full grown sons and daughters of God with God as our divine protection.
They that DWELL IN THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH GOD SHALLL... SHALL REMAIN SECURE AND SAFE IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY WHOSE POWER NO ENEMY CAN WITHSTAND.
Beloved, Let these words become flesh in us as a living reality. If you have been cold or lukewarm in your relationship with God, NOW IS THE TIME TO REPENT AND TURN AROUND. NOW IS THE TIME FOR THE CHURCH IN THIS NATION TO TURN TO GOD AND REPENT OF OUR LUKEWARM DEAD RELIGION AND TURN BACK TO GOD.
GOD PROMISES US THAT HE WILL HEAL OUR LAND IF “WE”HIS PEOPLE, THE SPIRITUAL NATION WHO ARE CALLED BY HIS NAME WILL REPENT AND HUMBLE OURSELVES AND TURN FROM OUR WICKED WAY. HE PROMISES TO FORGIVE OUR SIN AND HEAL OUR LAND. DON’T WE NEED THAT NOW, BELOVED OF THE LORD?
2nd Chronicles 7:14 has always been a foundation stone to our live and ministry call and now it is even more important for our nation and the nations of the world.
Let us not just read these words. Let us come together as one body of Christ and live them and cry out to God.
I close this post with the very promise of God to heal our land if we will repent and then make our God our Secret Place and live with him in that place. The choice is ours and the time is now!
14 and My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.
